Key metrics

Revenue generated

Total revenue from products sold as part of bundles.

  • What it measures: Revenue return per dollar of discount
  • Why it matters: Indicates bundle profitability
  • Interpretation:
    • ROI > 500%: Excellent (generating 5+per5+ per 1 discount)
    • ROI 300-500%: Good
    • ROI < 300%: Consider optimizing discounts

Bundle performance breakdown

View performance metrics for each bundle:

By bundle

  • Bundle name and type

  • Conversion rate (views → purchases)
  • Revenue generated
  • Total discounts given
  • ROI per bundle

Sorting and filtering

Sort bundles by:
  • Revenue (highest to lowest)
  • Conversion rate

Funnel metrics

  • View-to-cart rate: Percentage who add bundle to cart
  • Cart-to-purchase rate: Percentage who complete purchase
  • Overall conversion rate: View-to-purchase percentage
Use funnel data to identify where customers drop off and optimize accordingly.

Comparison metrics

Compare bundle performance to store averages:
  • Average order value (AOV) with bundles vs. store average AOV
  • Conversion rate of bundle products vs. non-bundle products
  • Customer lifetime value of bundle customers vs. non-bundle customers

Insights and recommendations

The analytics page provides automated insights:
Bundles with highest revenue, conversion, or ROI. Consider creating similar bundles or increasing promotion of these.
Bundles with low conversion or ROI. Consider adjusting discount, changing products, or deactivating.
Suggestions for new bundles based on product performance and customer behavior.

Optimization strategies

Use analytics to optimize your bundle strategy:

If conversion rate is low (< 2%)

  • Check discount attractiveness: May need higher discount
  • Review product selection: Products may not be complementary
  • Improve widget visibility: Ensure widget is prominent on page
  • Simplify offer: Complex bundles may confuse customers

If ROI is low (< 300%)

  • Reduce discount percentage: Current discount may be too high
  • Include higher-margin products: Improve product mix
  • Increase bundle price: Add more valuable products
  • Test different bundle type: May need different structure

If views are low

  • Improve product page placement: Move widget higher on page
  • Promote bundles: Add to homepage, collections, marketing
  • Expand to more products: Include bundle products in more bundles
  • Use cart banner: Remind customers of bundle opportunities

If cart-to-purchase rate is low

  • Simplify checkout: Remove friction in checkout process
  • Improve discount visibility: Make savings clearer in cart
  • Add urgency: Limited-time language or stock indicators
  • Review cart experience: Ensure bundle discount is obvious

Exporting analytics data

Export analytics for deeper analysis:
  1. Select date range
  2. Choose metrics to include
  3. Click Export
  4. Download CSV or Excel file
Use exported data for:
  • Custom reporting
  • Sharing with stakeholders
  • Integration with other analytics tools
  • Historical record keeping

Tracking and attribution

How purchases are tracked

Product Bundles tracks:
  • When bundle widget is viewed
  • When bundle is added to cart
  • When bundle products are purchased
  • Which specific bundle drove the purchase

Multi-touch attribution

If a customer views multiple bundles before purchasing:
  • Credit goes to the bundle actually purchased
  • Views are tracked for all bundles seen
  • Conversion rates reflect actual purchase bundle

Best practices

Check performance at least weekly to identify trends and issues early.
Establish target metrics (e.g., 3% conversion rate, 500% ROI) and track progress toward them.
When optimizing bundles, change one variable at a time to measure impact accurately.
High revenue with low ROI means you’re giving away too much margin. Balance both metrics.
Look at week-over-week and month-over-month changes to spot trends beyond daily fluctuations.

Understanding data accuracy

Analytics data updates:
  • Real-time: Order and revenue data
  • Near real-time (within minutes): View and cart data
  • Daily refresh: Aggregated reports and insights

Data considerations

  • Orders may be refunded or cancelled, affecting historical metrics
  • Test orders (if not filtered) can skew data
  • Bundles with very low traffic may show volatile conversion rates
Use analytics to run experiments. Try different discounts on similar bundles and compare ROI to find your optimal discount sweet spot.
